Mission Codename Chardenet spells chardonnay...
Top marks for gorgeous Chardonnay from newcomer Chardenet, which was the original spelling of the ubiquitous grape varietal we all know so well. Wine Enthusiast felt the same way, giving it 91 points and we see why! Chardonnay is the most complex and demanding of the white varieties. Chardenet nails it out of the gate!
This Chardonnay has a beautiful straw color with a gorgeous crystal clarity. Nicely balanced nose of fruit and minerality with notes of apple and slate. The sur lees quality brings out notes of vanilla, honey and toasted almonds. A “leaner” style Chardonnay on the palate, meaning less buttery and lightly oaked, with a concentration on fruit flavors of golden delicious apple, tangerine, pear, toasted wheat and limestone. This wine is wonderfully structured with a full, lush mouthfeel and bright acidity for a Chardonnay that is the best of both worlds. This is a really versatile wine that would pair nicely with a wide variety of flavors. Try a chef’s salad with all the staples for a medley of flavors to match this versatility.

Here’s what the wine press has to say.
91 Points - Virginie Boone - “This is an inaugural release for the winery, established in 2013 where a former part of Buena Vista Winery stood. The grapes come from rocky Durell nearby, and take on its signature concentration and celebration of fruit. Golden in color, this is a ripe mingling of pear, baked apple and caramel that is entirely full bodied.”
