Mission Codename Bases loaded
Prager hits a home run with today’s delectable, food-fantastic, layered and aromatic treat. We offer this wine to you with our heartiest recommendation.
We’re over the moon for today’s delicious, and rare Prager Winery & Port Works 2013 Napa Valley Petite Sirah. Prager has been known as a Port house, and since 1979 they’ve been delighting the world with their special Port in America range of fortified wines. Prager also makes today’s non-port wine - and wow… we love it.
In the glass, you’ll find a very nice garnet colored Petite Sirah that flashes with a stunning fuchsia at the edges. The nose is extremely enticing, especially so for a Petite, with pleasant aromas of candied violets, ripe raspberry, yellow plum, amaretto, and subtle anise. You’ll note after taking a sip that all these aromas integrate very well on the palate which adds in spicy notes of sandalwood, cigar box, allspice, dark plum, and cinnamon. They clearly know what they’re doing. Petite Sirah can be fickle and tannic, yet this wine is perfectly balanced, with huge fruit and spice, enmeshed flawlessly with robust tannin and alcohol. Heavenly with a rack of lamb seasoned with traditional Greek spices. Think souvlaki.
The Napa Valley AVA (American Viticultural Area) is located in Napa County, California, United States. Napa Valley is considered one of the foremost wine regions in the world. Wine grapes thrive here, due to the combination of geography, the Mediterranean climate and geology of the region, which is perfect for wine grape growing. The region was established as a wine-growing region with its first commercial vineyard, which was planted in 1858.
Enjoy!
