Mission Codename My friend, Franc
We are crazy about Cabernet Franc and, over the years, we’ve built up quite a following among our Operatives. Franc is one of the most food-friendly wines available, which makes it compatible with a wide array of pairing choices. Today’s Franc is an expressive, juicy wine that we offer with our strong recommendation.
This Cabernet Franc features remarkable color consistency throughout which ripples with magenta and a medium density. The perfumed and aromatic bouquet is simply gorgeous with jasmine, roses, and lilac make up the floral component while raspberry and dusty hay compliment it nicely. On the palate, there’s a lot to love including watermelon, plum, Golden Delicious apple, and fresh pipe tobacco, with Franc’s trademark chocolate. This wine is expertly constructed with bright acidity that sets off the center of the palate with a satisfying “pop” that transitions into a smooth finish. This can compliment something sweet and savory such as a teriyaki beef rice bowl.
The Russian River Valley, in Sonoma County, produces a range of wines of remarkable distinction. The cooler maritime conditions of the region make the RRV ideal for growing a variety of grapes. This AVA was officially designated in 1983, but many of the wines in the region used the designation as early as the 1970s (early in California’s wine history) with the many of the vines having been first planted in the early 1900s.
Cheers!
