Secret Rows Ranch
2014 Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc
California: Napa Valley
Best Kept Rows
Mitch Cosentino has the distinction of being our best selling winemaker of all time. In our 11 year history, we’ve sold more wines that were made by Mitch than any other winemaker. And that’s really saying something. We’ve had the great fortune to show off some of the world’s best winemakers.
When we were offered today’s Secret Rows Ranch 2014 Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc, we stepped up and purchased every case that we could. This glinting, gorgeous wine is a fresh, bright wine that caused quite a sensation at our recent tasting panel. Everyone loved this wine, citing exceptional value at today’s price.
This wine has a beautiful peridot color with the same opulence as the gemstone. It’s a different kind of SB, with a lot of sun-ripened fruit on the nose with hints of loquat, bergamot, and persimmon with musky sandalwood. The palate melds this stone fruit character with SB’s more traditional notes of grapefruit and straw, with complimentary flavors of apricot, nectarine, and marmalade. The acidity hits the center of the palate upon sipping it and carries it further and further to the back of the throat for a long finish. This wine can do more than your typical SB, and strays into Chardonnay territory - head to the nearest pier with this wine in your bag and pop a bottle while chompin’ on a lobster po’ boy.
The Napa Valley AVA (American Viticultural Area) is located in Napa County, California, United States. Napa Valley is considered one of the foremost wine regions in the world. Wine grapes thrive here, due to the combination of geography, the Mediterranean climate and geology of the region, which are perfect for wine grape growing. The region was established as a wine-growing region with its first commercial vineyard, which was planted in 1858.
In 1976, the region rose to prominence when a Napa Valley wine rocked the wine world by winning the fabled “Judgement of Paris”, beating out French wines in a blind tasting.
