Mission Codename I want Moore!
We are so impressed… so enamored with today’s wine. Seldom, do we feature a Napa Valley Zin. There just aren’t that many produced, and most of them do not rise to the level of quality that today’s wine handily attains.
The grapes for today’s 2015 R.W. Moore Vineyard Coombsville Napa Valley Zinfandel wine come from the former Moore ‘Earthquake’ Vineyard. This highly-prized vineyard was under exclusive contract to cult producer, Turley Winery. Today, the grapes are divided between Hendry and the fabled Biale Winery.
Today’s wine has the hallmarks of a great Zin: When you hold it up to the light it shines with a bright crimson hue. The nose is incredibly enticing. Its dusty dusty bramble is joined by dried rose petals, juicy blackberry, fresh boysenberry, and raspberries. Yum! Huge juicy fruit notes wash over the palate upon the first sip with redolent waves of blackberry compote, rich supple leather, milk chocolate, hot cocoa, and vanilla bean. Any Zin lovers will fall for this hedonist fruit bomb. It’s got ample tannin to stack up to the fruit and alcohol, providing a balanced (if powerful) experience. Take that cover off the BBQ and fire it up. Throw some Korean BBQ on there with some short ribs.
We are crazy about this wine, and we know that you will be, too. Guaranteed!
Here’s what the wine press has to say.
93 points - Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast - “From a historic site planted in 1905, this impressive wine is defined by well-crafted layers of black pepper, tomato leaf and blackberry. Its sizable length and breadth is laced in cinnamon spice and ample acidity that reins it in from becoming overdone.”
