Mission Codename Paso Seesaw
Playground Cellars and their “ready for play” wines can take anyone right back to their happy childhood. This Grenache will swing from the glass, seesaw with your tastebuds and slide through your palate. Paso Robles is heaven for Rhône varietals and the top Grenache from here show irresistible upfront red fruits along with a mild earthiness that truly resonates.
A glimmering lighter shade of ruby, with a deeper crimson core greets the eye. Redolent raspberries, spice and spring blossom all emerge on the open nose, as an inviting potpourri with a touch of tobacco. More delicate than many, this is a Grenache from Paso with great balance on the palate between delicately sweet red berries, fresh dry tannins, and juicy acidity. The finish punctuates a medium to full-bodied richness with energy and excitement. Pair with a hearty pasture raised whole chicken, roasted with brown butter and sage.
We’ve hardly met anyone as passionate about wine as winemaker, Joe White and his wife and winery partner, Suzanne Berkley, who is a Certified Sommelier and Certified Specialist of Wine. While such pure examples of Grenache from Paso Robles achieve cult status and ever-rising prices, a few remain under the radar like this example from Playground Cellars. Here’s your opportunity to get in on this deliciousness for just 20 bucks and change!
