Mission Codename Zippy Taz-Mania

Some days can be tough and leave you completely drained. You get home and wish that you could just plug in for a quick charge… YOU CAN!

This devilishly delicious Taz-manian Chardonnay will do just that to your whole body via your palate. It is that invigorating. Beware though, this ain’t your “bread and butter” conventional Chardonnay. By any means. If you like Sauvignon Blanc, if you like Chablis, if you like lemonade on the cold and sour side, this is your white. Zero new oak, zero malolactic, zero pretention, pure fruit, pure energy, pure tension. Like a coiled up spring ready to zip out of the glass, this wine shows why Tasmania, off the Southeastern coast of Australia as one of the closest wine growing regions to the South Pole, is also the coolest, literally in climate, and not only in a Chardonnay wearing Wayfarers on a tropical beachside chaise lounge way!

A crystal-clear shade of pale lemon with green hues interspersed as you swirl. Penetrating tropicality rules the authoritative nose, with passionfruit, lime peel, jasmine, and white pepper. It glides effortlessly through the palate, staying laser-focused, sharp while round throughout. A seamless and seemingly endless symphony of zesty citrus and crunchy stone fruits define the finish. Shellfish, a healthy dose of cream and parmesan on your favorite al dente pasta would be the ultimate pairing.

While windswept Tasmania boasts a COOL climate ideal for this style of Chardonnay, it nonetheless is a HOT winegrowing region that has been garnering a lot of international attention for its unique geography and climate. Their trade association boasts; “Tasmania’s naturally elegant wines are made from grapes grown in climates similar to those of the famous European wines - with mild summers and long autumn days that ripen the grapes providing elegance and intensity of flavor. This unique island state now produces elegant cool climate wines such as Pinot Noir, sparkling wines, Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Pinot Gris. Tasmania enjoys a national and international reputation as a leading producer of some of Australia’s premium wines… winning high praise and plenty of trophies from wine judges and critics alike.” If you haven’t discovered this hidden treasure of brave wines, this Nocton is the perfect place to start.

Here’s what the wine press has to say:

91 Points - Distinctive, with honey-drenched melon, floral and passionfruit accents that add a succulent side, but the core is crisp and clean, with refreshing acidity, the floral notes lingering on the finish.
