Mission Codename Happily in the Red
This wine is rich with spice and red fruit on the nose, leading with mixed brown spice, dusty bramble, savory herbs that give way to grilled plum, braised fig, black cherry, black currant, baker’s chocolate, slate mineral and darkly toasted oak.
Much more fruit forward on the palate than the nose initially indicates, with flavors of Bing cherry, blackberry juice, red currant, pomegranate, followed by sweet spice, toasty oak, sweetwood, dried fall leaves and a hint of black pepper.
The Napa Valley AVA (American Viticultural Area) is located in Napa County, California, United States. Napa Valley is considered one of the foremost wine regions in the world. Wine grapes thrive here, due to the combination of geography, the Mediterranean climate and geology of the region, which are perfect for wine grape growing. The region was established as a wine growing region with it’s first commercial vineyard, which was planted in 1858.
In 1976, the region rose to prominence when a Napa Valley wine rocked the wine world by winning the fabled “Judgement of Paris”, beating out French wines in a blind tasting.
