Mission Codename Forget me not
A long time ago, in a valley far, far away… a MargauX Singleton and a Fred Schrader were partners, procuring and producing extraordinary wines together. MargauX, aka MX, continued to grow the reputation of one of the most beloved wine institutions in recent history, in fact one that famous wine critic Stephan Tanzer called; “one of America’s top wine shops” while Schrader went on to create one of the most coveted cult Cabernet Sauvignon labels of the said valley. A lot has changed since MargauX’s years with Schrader, but she kept making better and better wines in the tiniest of amounts for her discerning clientele, a Cabernet from the vineyard that put Schrader on the map, Beckstoffer’s famous To Kalon, and the H and L Vineyard in St. Helena for this marvelous, not to miss old vine Zinfandel.
A vibrantly glowing garnet quintessence that radiates towards the rim with waves of crimson greets the eye. Smoky charred wood and cocoa meld in with dried raspberries, molasses, sage, and tobacco on the exhilarating nose. Sweet and spicy once in the mouth, with massive tertiary mulberry fruit, in graceful harmony with savory notes. This beauty shows truly glamourous on the extensive finish, resonating with floral, briary and earthy tones. Pair this with the unexpected, chili-spiked chocolate cake or a rack of Texas-style barbecue ribs. Be adventurous, it works!
There are less than 10 cases known in existence of this well-aged vintage single vineyard St. Helena Zinfandel, available proudly and exclusively on Wine Spies. While the few bottles of the MX Cabernet remain rarely seen fetching $200+ per bottle at auction, opportunity knocks today, to taste a piece of Napa Valley history, and experience the MX legacy with this Zinfandel at an unforeseeably affordable price! Your one shot for vinous time travel is just a click or two away!
