We SOLD OUT on our first Marathon, but the Operatives on the live stream spoke and we listened. The rest of the day we have MICA!

Bonneau 2013 Sonoma Coast Sangiacomo Vineyards Pinot Noir

Bonneau 2013 Sonoma Coast Sangiacomo Vineyards Pinot Noir

Mission Codename Up to Eleven

While the crazy – today only – deal we have the privilege to offer on this Pinot is deep at 50% off its release price, what’s even more remarkable is that it drinks like a $100 single vineyard would with a few years in a pristine cellar. What explains this quadruple value phenomenon is the vineyard itself. There are in fact numerous 95+ rated Pinots that come from Sangiacomo at much, much higher prices, made by the likes of Sojourn, Ram’s Gate, Macphail and the Sangiacomo Family’s recently launched and already highly sought-after estate wines. This legacy of exemplary viticulture spanning the Sonoma Coast and Carneros appellations originally began planting in 1927 and is now tended by the 3rd generation of Sangiacomo family members. It has been the source of many California greats over the past century.

A deeply saturated carmine red with shades of scarlet whimsically playing in the light. On the nose, it offers ebullient and seductive raspberry and ripe red cherry, with spice, loam, and sandalwood. Pure, intense and focused mouthfeel, delivering a beam of ‘up to eleven’ delicious wild berry fruit. Refreshing, vibrant, complex, well-structured and long on the fruit-earth driven finish. This stunner would sing with a fillet of salmon, grilled or broiled to perfection, and/or with roasted artichokes and garlic aioli.

The multi-generational marvel continues with the winemaker, John Bambury, 3rd generation grandson of French winemakers and farmers. John literally grew up with the Sangiacomo family. Their enduring relationship has yielded remarkable wines. A 2015 article by the Sonoma Index-Tribune explains the depth of this institution best; “for Steve Sangiacomo and his siblings, the notion of farm and family are as inseparable as grapes are from a good bottle of wine. The Sangiacomos have been named by the Sonoma County Farm Bureau as Farm Family of the Year; “farm and family, absolutely, have always gone together for us. It’s the core of who we are. I think the philosophy our grandfather had has stayed the same, take care of your land, and take care of your people. That hasn’t changed since he bought the property. What maybe has changed is the technology, the experience and the knowledge we’ve gained.” the brothers declare.
