Mission Codename Ty One On
Ty’s Red is back and in full effect with the 2016 edition newly minted from one of Sonoma Valley’s favorite winemakers, Ty Caton.
Ty Caton truly offers an impressive variety of wines, and we like them all, but when you’re looking for value, you can’t beat the bang for your buck being provided by this Super QPR marvel. Top quality fruit makes it into this eclectic blend of varietals all grown at their estate vineyard in the Moon Mountain District.
While the core of this blend is an inky black, the lip shows off a vivacious mauve hue. After giving this dense wine a thorough swirl, you’ll find rich bouquet of potpourri, cedar, saffron, baked cherries, and caramel. Wow! On the palate, there are much more savory flavors of black currant, rhubarb, cured meats, fig, and date. This expressive wine bursts with spice, fruit and savory flavors with a supple tannin structure to support it all. Ideal for any grilled meat dish, it’d be particularly welcome with some marinated carne asada with Mexican rice.
We love showcasing Ty’s wines because his careful, studious approach always results in a well-crafted wine and our Operatives have taken notice. Snap yours up before they’re all gone because this fan favorite will not last the day!
