Black as a moonless night in the center, with a carmine glow on the edges. Big, bold, black cherries macerated in cinnamon lead the intense nose, with a mineral undertone. Chocolatey blackberries and cassis, with nuances of charming torrefaction defining the palate. Complex on the expressively long finale, with deftly balanced acidity and tannin. We suggest pairing this ‘Grand Vin’ with mature hard cheeses, or a regional specialty like Entrecôte à la Bordelaise, which is a Bordeaux-style boneless ribeye steak.
The 2015 vintage in Bordeaux is up there with the very best in this century thus far (rated 97 points by Wine Spectator). Most of the bug guns from 2015 have long taken their place in top private cellars and restaurants worldwide. Finding an incredible hidden value from 2015 still available is akin to a needle in the haystack. While it was hard to make anything less than really good wine in 2015 in Bordeaux, those that pay attention to the vineyard, like Peyfaures, truly excelled. If this triple 90 points rated under the radar gem came from the right bank of the nearby Dordogne tributary, it would have been long sold out!

The 2015 Peyfaures is medium garnet-purple colored with earthy, meaty, gamey notions over a core of warm plums and cassis plus a waft of mossy bark. Medium to full-bodied with plenty of savory and black fruit flavors nicely offset by chewy tannins and just enough freshness, it finishes on a mineral note.”
