Columbia Crest’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, a past vintage of THIS VERY SAME RED was awarded the coveted “Wine of the Year” accolade in Wine Spectator’s annual Top-100, changing history as the first wine from Washington state to ever receive this prestigious #1 spot. Since then, the winery has been climbing to new heights with each new vintage.

Deep ruby colored, with an ever so slight shade of garnet on the broad rim. Tiers of spices, toasty oak, ripe plum, cherry and berry grace the aromatics. A delicious mouthful of Cab, packs in lots of fruit, yet retains elegant tannins. Full-bodied, offering great depth and a seamless long finish, a delicious treat. Ideal for roasts, low and slow, with veggies, potatoes and reduction sauces.

As a result of our long-standing relationship and fandom of their portfolio of great wines, we were able to procure a tiny library allocation of this 2013 at a never seen before price point, $27 and change after a 40% discount on this 94 points Cabernet is too good to be true, but here it is, at The Wine Spies only while it lasts!

94 Points – James Suckling - “This has very composed cool fruits in the blue- and purple-berry spectrum. A riper plum and fig edge, too. The palate has a smooth-honed array of rich and fleshy tannins, hints of slate-like, stony flavors and a long, succulent finish. Baby Opus. Drink or hold.”

92 Points – Wine Advocate - “Winemaker Juan Muñoz Oca does a terrific job with these wines from Columbia Crest, and this estate doesn’t get the recognition they deserve for both the quality and quantity they produce. A step up over the Merlot, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) is a seriously good Cab that offers ample black fruits, licorice, charcoal and spice aromas and flavors. Rich, mouth-filling and impeccably balanced, with sweet fruit, it’s hard to resist today, yet it should age gracefully. Drink 2017-2023.”
