Mission Codename Cupido's Pride
Gemlike Spanish Rosé, the delectably delicious Solar de Randez 2015 Rioja DOC Rioja Alavesa Rosada. We searched far and wide for a special treat for our romantically-inclined Operatives and today’s wine is certain to please. Serve this food-fantastic wine with your most romantic dinners.
With its jewel-like clarity, it’s very pleasing to the eye with a tangerine-pink hue. The bouquet leaps out of the glass with fragrant floral aromas of jasmine and narcissus. Juicy fresh raspberries, and tangerine with a surprising cinnamon spice. Citrus such as ruby grapefruit and navel orange are nicely balanced with tree fruit like red apple and D’Anjou pear. After trying this wine, you’ll be in the hunt for more Spanish roses - looking for nuanced, balanced, and delicious wines. We raved about it! This wine cries out for a saffron-laced shrimp, mussel, and chicken paella.
Grenache (or Garnacha) is one of the most widely planted red wine grape varieties in the world. It is a late ripener so it requires hot, dry, conditions such as those found in Spain, where the grape likely originated. It is also grown in the Italian isle of Sardinia, the south of France, Australia, and California’s San Joaquin Valley. It is usually a spicy, berry-flavored, grape that is soft on the palate and produces wine with relatively high alcohol content. Characteristic flavor profiles of Grenache include red fruit flavors (raspberry and strawberry) with a subtle, white pepper spice note.
Here’s what the wine press has to say:
95 points - Crisp, delicate, and full of dried strawberries. The mouthfeel is almost effervescent, which leads the way to a bold aftertaste, hinting at pomegranates. - Sommelier, Jazmine S.
