Mission Codename The Grandest Napa?
Today’s sale marks the return of a textbook Napa Valley Cabernet! Our entire tasting panel continues to adore this wine and we’re thrilled to be able to share it with you once again at such a compelling price. This young Cabernet is drinking wonderfully now, and it’ll only improve with time. Grab enough to last you a decade or more, as it is always interesting to see how a wine progresses as it ages.
This Napa Cab is picture-perfect with a dense heart of garnet spreading out to a thin lip of a maroon hue. The nose also is like a case study in Napa Cabernet with clean notes of wet slate, blueberry, dried roses, potpourri, and leather. Beautiful. It comes through wonderfully on the palate as well, adding to the fresh red fruit flavors of cherry, cranberry and currant, toasty barrel flavors of vanilla and subtle caramel. Everything you’re looking for in a top-tier Napa Cab, it’s got structure, weight, smooth tannin, and bold fruit. Bravo! Steak? Not simply steak. Filet Mignon? Not simply Filet Mignon. Niman Ranch Filet Mignon? Now we’re talking.
We’re very grateful to Grand Napa for giving us access to their entire portfolio of wines. And, of course, we’re grateful to you, Operative, for your nearly 13 great years of patronage. Your love of great wines fuels us. Enjoy!
Here’s what the wine press says:
93+ Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate - “Blended of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot, the deep garnet-black colored 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley comes charging out of the gate with gregarious scents of black raspberries, red and black currants and blackberry compote with suggestions of cracked black pepper, pencil shavings and tar. Medium to full-bodied with fantastic intensity and depth, it has a firm, grainy frame and long earthy finish.”
