'Hotspur Cuvée' Sparkling Rosé
California: North Coast
You asked for it… Summer primetime’s here dear Operatives, which happens to be the absolute best months for pink bubbles! Who but Bodkin to deliver a big sparkling for little money? Creative blending, irresistible deliciousness, not much to think about here folks, grab your sparkling Rosé, mix your jazzy electronica tunes, get reckless, and chill out.
Vibrant salmon pink with a copper hue glimmering in the sunshine. Raspberry, frangipane, and an exotic touch of cardamom and mace grace the nose. Fresh and festive on the palate, with lively, crisp strawberry, and gingerbread notes. The gentle acidity envelops a soft, foamy mousse on an elegant finish, long and enticing. Melon and prosciutto, bacon-wrapped dates or scallops, all to be had poolside of course, or lakeside, or seaside, you get the drill!
When San Francisco Chronicle ran its Winemakers to Watch feature a couple of years ago and declared Chris Christensen “The Experimenter”, the genius creations of Bodkin was long-established as he continued to achieve nationwide recognition. We have since been enjoying these eclectic and utterly fun wines. While the Zin and Syrah base provides the berry yumminess here, splashes of Albariño, Chenin and Sauvignon Blanc add zest and liveliness to this definitive, bonafide bubbly goodness, at 30% off it’s a party waiting to happen.
