Mission Codename Gold for the Masses

We have struck Gold! Cabernet Gold, from the immaculate, highly sought after Marchigüe sector of the Colchagua Valley. Chile is at the forefront of great values from the Southern Hemisphere and that’s why top wineries from Bordeaux and California have been investing heavily here. Let’s just put it this way - if this wine came from the Northern Hemisphere it would cost 3-4 times more. Leaves us in awe to see a rare jewel-like Gold with a 50% OFF deal attached! Pile up, folks, no time to hesitate.

A deeper shade of black kalamata olives with a purple-ruby glow on the rim. Gorgeous blackberry, blueberry, plum, chocolate ganache, and mocha notes define the attractive nose. A rich, velvety palate is loaded with currant, fig marmalade, licorice, and cassis. The long, juicy finish has great grip and density, with tea, and mineral echoes. Try this outstanding red with a high-end Mexican feast of chicken mole or tamales de huitlacoche.

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate notes that; “Marchigüe is a place for powerful wines in Colchagua. The soils are rich in granite, showing granularity and gradual change of style in the wines, with more freshness and less new oak. Estampa has been working in the irrigation of their vineyards to obtain wines with less alcohol and more freshness and balance. They have also lowered the amount of new oak used in the aging to better show the identity of the different places.”

While this is a Pacific influenced Cabernet in essence, the unusual accompaniments of Syrah, Chile’s national pride Carménère, and Petite Verdot truly elevate it to a unique blend that showcases rare complexity, character, and freshness akin to the great reds of Bordeaux. See for yourself, at $20 and change you can’t go wrong!

Here’s what the wine press has to say.

94 Points - Decanter - “Opulent and inviting on the nose with pristine, pure fruit, then the lush palate has heat, spice and a delicious pepper edge.”

92 Points - James Suckling - “A juicy blend that shows a medium to full body, soft and velvety tannins and an aftertaste of blackberries, spice, and walnuts. Drink now or hold.”
