Mission Codename Head over heels
We heart, you heart, they heart, everybody hearts this red! Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate writes; “Franz Haas remains one of the most interesting and innovative producers in Northern Italy” and that’s a BIG heart! This blend has us head over heels in love. When we learned that it literally comes from head to heel as a lovingly crafted blend covering the boot from the Alps to Sicily, it all started making more sense…
Faded ruby melding into garnet shadows, with a bright maroon hue that catches the eye. An exotic mélange of juicy dark cherries, plums, freshly cut flowers, licorice, and tobacco, it’s difficult to stop smelling this wine! Racy on the palate with an irrepressible personality and marvelous balance as layers of fruit fill through. Beautifully delineated and broad-shouldered with a lingering sweetness, spice, and mineral on the impressive finish, given the value. For complementing it, roast a chicken and get creative with seasoning, combining tart, sweet and savory flavors.
This one-of-a-kind red puts forth a dangerously appealing proposal. It’s supremely artistic & affordable at the same time. It’s like Picasso for the masses. The age it has seen has only made it tastier and more accessible. It appreciated like fine art in a bottle and we begged for as much of it as we could get. One thing not so fine with objects of art is that they are limited just like this. Act fast to claim your heart. We mean that from the bottom of our heart.
Here’s what the wine press has to say:
Antonio Galloni - Vinous - “Franz Haas’s entry-level Kris line is full of tasty, value-priced offerings. The Heart Rosso emerges from the glass with plums, black cherries, spices and tobacco. The addition of Merlot from Sicily gives the wine an exuberance that is quite attractive at this price point. This is another terrific value from Franz Haas’s Kris line.”
