Happy Game Day Operatives!
The second helpings of Rudius didn’t last long, thank you for the overwhelming interest, to keep the festivities going, we dug out a tad more of the crazy popular Coppola Apocalypse Now.
When 3,760 of the toughest British film critics convened about a decade ago to rank their “50 Films to See Before You Die” picks, filmmaker and vintner Francis Ford Coppola’s 1979 epic classic Apocalypse Now was voted the # 1 movie in cinematic history. To celebrate this genre altering classic’s 40th-anniversary, Coppola rolled out an extended 3 hours plus Final Cut at the Tribeca Film Festival. To go along with this glorious feast of the senses, Coppola also released an equally epic red, an Alexander Valley Cab, also called Final Cut…
It’s hard not to see all the shades of red that make up an apocalyptic dawn or sunset here. Rich and intense with blackberry, blackcurrant, plum, chocolate, mocha, and bright spices on the classy bouquet. Immediately full, bright and fruity on the palate with intense tannins, round and silky throughout with refined berries. Superbly balanced and intriguingly long on the finish, just like the Final Cut of the legendary movie itself it’s long but so seamless that it feels timeless. Stock up plenty to throw movie parties with a barbecue feast or wood oven pizzas.
Corey Beck, Chief Winemaker and CEO of Coppola proudly says; “a sequence in the film shows people enjoying wine during an extravagant dinner and for me, offering this Apocalypse Now wine helps highlight who Francis is as a filmmaker, many wonderful moments in his films center around family gathering for a meal together, and we welcome people into our family each time they enjoy our wine or visit our winery.” The quality and deliciousness of this Cabernet exemplifies this manifesto, as it is up there with the best of the best in Alexander Valley, so expect an intense Silver Oak, Jordan or Rodney Strong top-shelf Cabernet profile, just like the movie!
The Wine Spies is the exclusive partner of choice to feature this rarity! Here today, gone tomorrow, you’re not only be getting a tremendous Cab, but also a collectible that will stand tall as a beacon for decades representing one of the greatest masterpieces the silver screen has ever seen.
