Mission Codename Smell the Rose(lla')s
It’s CULT Pinot vineyard day Operatives, for those who worship the heartbreak grape as much as we do. Here’s an uber-sexy example at more than half off made by winemaker Dan Fitgerald, a protege of Bob Cabral of Williams Selyem fame! Do you like that full throttle, intensely concentrated style of Kosta Browne, Aubert, or? Then we urge you to take a flyer here. It’s as close to that style you’ll find – at a fraction the cost of comparable Pinots!
Glowing medium ruby, translucent in the heart as the deeper tint blooms to a wide pale garnet rim. If this were perfume, it’d be in all department stores, candied raspberries and sweet spices galore on the head-spinning nose. On the palate it turns big, - make that massive - dense, seamless, flaunting fruit around with reckless abandon, coating every inch of the palate. Saturating flavors of black cherry, strawberry whips, sweet baking spice, and cola extend for miles on the can’t wait till the next sip finish. Imagine a classic BBQ spread, of dry-rubbed rack of baby back ribs, with baked beans, corn on the cob, and truffled mac and cheese to take this baby to new heights.
Neighboring Pisoni and Grays’ and born of the same famed Pisoni clone, Rosella’s Vineyard offers up prime Pinot Noir real estate. The shortlist of big names who source from the same vineyard include ROAR, Kosta Browne, Loring, Siduri, and others… as nearly every wine from here slays, attracting big scores and high praise. This bottle is no different and is the only one we know of priced under $30 thanks to a crazy 55% break! If you’ve been holding back from getting any of the recently offered Pinots, please, for the love of all that is right in this world, GET THIS ONE. You will be happy you did. Amazingly good, unmatched value - taste it to believe it!
The mainstream wine press hasn’t caught up with this superb wine yet, but the lower-rated 2015 vintage earned 93 points from the Wine Enthusiast with; “rose petals, cranberry and dust show on the nose of this bottling, which grows more intense on the nose as it sits open, offering riper fruit. Dried sagebrush and baked earth flavors show on the sip as the red fruit and floral components arise with grace.” We guarantee that this one is a few notches better!
Lowest price in the country, of course, with shipping included on 3 too. Don’t think too hard - it will vanish quickly!
