Mission Codename This is a rosé
What do you get when you mix an Italian grape, a French style, and a wily Aussie winemaker? A 95 point knockout! Worlds collide with Sangiovese, grown on the slopes of the McLaren Vale and lovingly crafted into a summer sipper by returning champ Chapel Hill. Don’t settle for tame pink juice. Hop in your ute, head to the bush and meet winemaker Bryn Richards. He’s full of useful wisdom. “That’s not a rosé! THIS is a rosé!” Hold the saber, and use your Bowie knife unscrew the cap on this pitch perfect pink sensation. *We don’t actually recommend you attempt this technique unless you’re a licensed Australian.
Striking shades of pink and orange dance gleefully in the light as silver accents twirl endlessly. Abundant strawberry, peach and cranberry notes linger within a floral rose bouquet over the expressive aromatics. Spicy and sufficiently dry on the palate with just the right touch of bright Bing cherry, and nutmeg. Plenty of grip and lively acidity envelop a creamy, substantial, long lingering synergy on the clean, crisp finish. An extraordinary counterpart for this would be a Rueben oozing with melted cheese, or any variation thereof.
Here’s what the wine press has to say:
95 Points, Best of Year – James Halliday - “Pale bright pink; fragrant red cherry/crystalised cherry aromas introduce a pure, fine bouquet, the cherry fruit persisting through a perfectly articulated palate; the show continues through the finish and aftertaste. Sangiovese is particularly suited for rose/light red styles.”
