It’s been way, WAY too long since we had a Sauvignon Blanc SO delicious. The drought is over in a big way. This little discovery comes from Fayard Wines, as in Julian Fayard, as in the guy who trained at Châteaux Lafite Rothschild and Smith Haut Lafitte. As in the all-star winemaker who makes 95-100 point wines for Covert Estate, Purlieu and nearly a dozen other uber-elite, and ultra-expensive wineries. Azur is his own project, so you know it gets a little extra love.

Crisp, dry, with a bolt of clean, bright acidity. There’s plenty of sweet ripe pineapple, candied lemon peel, green melon, pear, and juicy tropical fruit. None of that grassy sordidness here. Just good clean fun. Terrifyingly easy to drink when the mercury rises and beyond compelling at $16.
