Mission Codename Tuk-fru
Just…wow. We’re flipping out over this one. Lovers of Napa Cabs & blends - GET IN HERE! There’s ZERO reason to social distance yourself from this smashing deal. 75% OFF with accolades to back! …whaaaat?
Heir Apparent is the flagship spinoff from Operative favorite Grand Napa Vineyards. They’ve been making some killer wines from their outpost in Rutherford, sourcing fruit from some of the very best vineyard sites in Oakville, Rutherford, and St. Helena. The exact vineyards for this wine aren’t disclosed, but when your neighbors include the likes of Spottswoode, Staglin, or Opus One you can imagine the quality is way, WAY up there.
You definitely don’t have to imagine anything when you taste it. All the qualities of a great red shine bright, plain, and simple. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Franc and Merlot, this is like as if Château Le Dôme and Beaulieu’s Georges de Latour got sloshed on a bottle of Barefoot and conceived a love child with all the best features - big, silky, structured and supremely affordable (at least with our massive discount!!). It has all the intensity of a tuk-tuk ride through Bangkok in rush hour, along with the fru-fru of the Champs-Élysées with none of the danger of crushing your bones or your wallets. Lavish blackberry and plum, cedar, and spice, with some pencil shavings and raw leather all join forces with expensive oak and superfine tannins. You’ll feel like a king when you drink this, without any worry of a violent uprising coming for your head.
This was $110. Today it’s yours for 75% off - via The Wine Spies alone. Make your move…
92 Points – Jed Dunnuck
“Terrific crème de cassis, crushed violets, candle wax, and hints of sappy herbs as well as a beautifully textured, layered style on the palate. It’s the star of the show from this team, has terrific purity of fruit, and should drink nicely for over a decade. Drink 2020-2030.”
90+ Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
“Deep garnet-purple colored, gives up warm cassis, stewed plum and black olives scents followed by suggestions of spice box, cedar chest and pencil lead. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers firm, grainy tannins and just enough plum and blackberry laced flavors, finishing a little chewy. Drink 2019-2030.”
