Occidental Road Cellars is the tiniest winery in Sebastopol, right down the road from us. Owned by a 4th generation farming family, their picturesque property above Occidental farms 20 acres of vineyards. The location is prime time for killer grapes, situated right on the border with the true Sonoma Coast, between the famed Charles Heintz and Joseph Phelps’ Freestone Vineyards. While they mostly sell their highly sought-after grapes, they keep a small portion of select lots to make under a thousand total cases for their small personal label. Sadly, they shut down their operations this year and going forward will only continue sharing their harvests with top producers. We happened to be in the right place at the right time to grab these for you!

Hyper-juicy and overflowing with deep, candied red fruit, this stuff is nothing short of a hedonistic fruit bomb. Everything you want in a rich, structured Zinfandel. A strong current flows an endless stream of fruit, baking spices and deep, dark, brooding flavors and aromas across your palate. There’s spice cake, toffee, mixed berry jam, anise - so much going on. Good luck pinning it all down!

Although this tiny label has no reviews from the big publications, it earned a Double Gold and 97 points from the Orange County Wine Society’s Commercial Wine Competition at the 2019 OC Fair. Only 4 barrels of this wine were made and we bought all we could, which as math goes, is NOT enough! The good news? We also scored a small lot of the following vintage of this very same Zin. Both will likely vanish quickly, and once they do… they’re gone for good… as in adios, arrivederci, farewell!
