Mission Codename Sisterly love in a glass
So far the 2020 insanity bingo game has brought some pretty wild cards to the table - pandemic, murder hornets, the Loch Ness Monster, market crashes, and much more. We’re still waiting for the sharks with laser beams and an alien invasion, but in the meantime here’s ANOTHER momentous, and not nearly as life-threatening one: 93 point Pinot Noir for an otherworldly 75% OFF!! No longer $75…not even close.
For the remaining few of you who haven’t yet frantically clicked over to buy this, here’s the lowdown. This wine comes from the Bill Foley empire and is named after his two daughters. In addition to major land holdings that include some incredible vineyard sites, he owns Foley Johnson, Merus, Sebastiani, Chalk Hill, Ferrari-Carano, and nearly a dozen other very successful wineries. He has a wealth of options to source incredible fruit, and that’s on full display here.
This is a fairly rich style, medium to full-bodied, though not over the top. It delivers a charge of superb fruit depth and density with blueberries, plum, Chambord, cola, and roasted coffee beans. The “intense fruit concentration paired with rich toasted French oak makes for a divine combination” as winemaker Dave Frazier’s notes say. A tremendously long finish of massive cherries and raspberries leaves you yearning for more. It has everything you want in a high-end Pinot, except the price.
Kindly excuse yourself from that Zoom call, step off the Peloton, give the kids some screen time - do whatever you can to lock this down. Yesterday it was $75. Today, from us, it’s $19. This is, most definitely in every sense of the word, a no-brainer and one to hoard by the case. But it WILL SELL OUT so move quickly.
93 Points - Wine Enthusiast
“Aromas of rose petal, mulberry and violet make for an intriguing entry to this bottling. It’s a smooth style of Pinot Noir, with soft tannins and a rich mouthfeel that carries flavors of violet and boysenberry.”
