Mission Codename Déjà vu!
A couple weeks ago we served up a huge meatball in the form of a $19 Pinot Noir from Two Sisters and you went absolutely bananas, taking every last bottle home in record time. Man, that had us scrambling to pack the mad crush of orders!
But after a short breather, we’re ready for today…because we’re back with the second sister, the Chardonnay. Same price. Same super delicious style. Another massive 65% discount. 91 and 92 point scores. Oh yea, we’re buckled down for the same feeding frenzy that’s about to go down from all our thirsty Chardonnay fans…
From the Bill Foley empire, named after his two daughters, Lindsay & Courtney, yes, THE Two Sisters they are. In addition to major land holdings that include some incredible vineyard sites, he owns Ferrari-Carano, Merus, Sebastiani, Lancaster Estate and over a dozen other highly successful wineries. He Needless to say, he as a wealth of options to source incredible fruit, and when he names a wine after his kids you better believe he’s cherry-picking the good stuff.
You’re getting big, beautiful, plus-sized tropical deliciousness here. It IS buttery, with a bit of oak but doesn’t go overboard in that sense. However, in the tropical fruit department this holds NOTHING back. A total hedonistic delight that front loads buckets of mango – passionfruit – guava straight onto your tongue. We’re talking additional layers of crushed pineapple, dried apricot, candied lemon peel, cantaloupe and baked apples… good luck pinning it all down. There’s also a little crème brûlée and vanilla hanging out on the sidelines, waiting to get in on the action and a surprisingly crisp vein of acidity to reign it all in. Stupefyingly enjoyable in the whole ripe fruit realm.
What else can be said??? A major crowd-pleaser you can enjoy all summer long and at $19 it’s an utter no-brainer - if you love your Chardonnays big.
92 Points – Wine Enthusiast
“Hazelnut, yeasty dough, lemon juice and honeysuckle aromas make for a very expansive nose on this reserve bottling from the Foley family. There’s a hint of butter on the front of the palate, which widens to flavors of citrus, almond, toast and oak.”
91 Points – Wine Spectator
“Creamy aromas and flavors fill this luscious style to the brim. Apple pastry and tropical fruit elements chime in and linger on the finish, with decadent spice and crème brûlée notes. Drink now through 2022.”
