Mission Codename Bubbly personality
“Wonderful summer aromatics…” – Decanter
There is nothing better for celebrations… for Thursdays …. for super macho men than PINK BUBBLES!
Especially when made by Napa royalty and available to you for a WICKED price.
Meet Kelsey Phelps Finch, granddaughter of the Napa Valley pioneer Joseph Phelps. Yeah, THAT Phelps, with Insignia, Freestone and all that fame. She grew up, as most Napa royalty do, in the winery and vineyards of the Valley’s finest. After proving herself a powerhouse in other career paths, she decided to come back to the wine world and pay homage to her lineage.
SEPPI is a nickname for her grandfather Joseph, because he wanted to be called “Giuseppe” rather than ‘Grandpa.’ And who could blame him? ‘Seppi’ is way cooler!
Kelsey started Seppi in 2017 with a focus on traditional ‘Champagne’ method sparkling beauties. Each with a different bubbly personality by Keith Hock, former Schramsberg winemaker. It’s a sommelier darling at fine establishments like Sea Ranch, Maison Healdsburg, and Dawn Ranch.
David Ransom for The Tasting Panel also featured it, raving “I like to champion wines that are not made in the region best known for a given variety or style but that will stand up against those that are. I recently found a few sparkling wines that fit this criterion quite nicely… I was quite taken with the SEPPI 2018 Brut Rosé from Kelsey Phelps Finch, granddaughter of Napa Valley legend Joseph Phelps, perfectly balancing approachable charm and refined elegance, making a wonderful addition to any table.”
What we have for you today is the Spy’s FAVORITE sparkling wine in a long time. Dry and elegant, this sparkling really works in sooooo many circumstances. Like morning time. Or for lunch. Its versatility is just one of the many things we love about it.
We also love being able to offer it at just about 70% OFF!
Think dry, beautiful, and tight bubbles. Lovely aromatics of rose, peach, and sunshine. On the palate, enjoy a touch of brioche, ripe strawberries, and cherries. Mostly Chardonnay with a dollop of still Pinot Noir for that sexy hue of pink, this wine is a perfect way to celebrate almost any occasion you can think of (or make up!)
But small production means small allocations! Be quick, Ops!
91 Points – Decanter “Wonderful summer aromatics of fresh strawberries and cream, cut rhubarb and mint alongside a note of candied pear. A base wine of Chardonnay was blended with just a bit of Pinot Noir before tirage bottling in June 2019. The wine aged in a bottle for 28 months on lees and was disgorged in November 2021. The palate is light and lively, with cut berries, red currants, and cranberries, followed by notes of spicy blood orange and the faintest hint of pastry cream; it finishes elegantly. Drink 2024-2028.”
