Mission Codename Oh l'amour
The Wine Spies Champagne holiday is here!!!
Did you not see it coming, it’s December and POP GOES THE CHAMPAGNE!
Speaking of great vintages…
Deutz, as under the radar as it may be amongst the prestigious Champagne houses, is the sister property to Louis Roederer, and the Amour to them is what Cristal is to Roederer - a Tête de Cuvée - representing the absolute best of a vintage they were able to grow, in the case of 2011 that is Avize, Le Mesnil, Oger, Villeneuve, Vertus, and Villers-Marmery.
Hear us, and Galloni of Vinous out, who says “I was quite impressed with the wines I tasted from Deutz… all of these wines deserve attention. The Deutz style is best described as classic… impeccably made and absolutely delicious.”
Carpe diem!
96 Points – Wine Enthusiast
“A mature Champagne from a great vintage year, this is concentrated. With toast over the white fruits and with minerality still very present, the wine is taut, textured, vibrant, and ready to drink.”
