Mission Codename Doin' a big Fèvre

“There really is no better place to get a read on Chablis than Fèvre.” – Vinous

Summer just started, but it feels like Christmas!!

Agent Noir’s jaw dropped when he saw what we’ll call, THE LIST.

He had not seen this many Grand Crus in one place since 1999. And Premier Crus. All Chablis, all Fèvre. Gathering his thoughts, and daydreaming, he put together an offer that never in his wildest imagination, they would accept…

But they DID.

(STARTING AT 8AM PST) And here we are! A Chablis Store Takeover like no other. All Grand and Premier Crus, all day. Or until they sell out. And oh, they will.

Some insider info from earlier this year may help explain this extraordinary opportunity… per Wine Spectator “The owners of Château Latour and Château Lafite Rothschild have made a deal over a Chablis winery… to sell top Chablis producer Domaine William Fèvre to Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite for an undisclosed sum.”

A genre-defining New York Times article once pointed out that “Chablis is home to a pair of producers, Raveneau and Dauvissat, who have long been critics’ favorites. Their wines are old-school icons, but unless you have considerable patience you might struggle to understand what the fuss is about, or even to find them. More consistently appealing are the wines of another long-established estate, William Fèvre. This is perhaps the greatest landowner in Chablis, with vines in all 7 of the appellation’s Grand Cru vineyards.”

And we have THREE of those today, plus TWO 1er Crus!!!

Let’s talk prices. Take the 2018 vintage we’re showcasing today for example, and our top Grand Cru Valmur at an “surely you’re joking” $95-per-bottle. Raveneau’s 2018 Valmur has long broken the thousand-a-bottle barrier. And Dauvissat’s 2018 Preuses is “such a great value” in the $300s these days.

We have Fèvre’s 97-point version for an eye-popping $85 today. BOOM.

If we closed up shop today - hypothetically speaking that is - it would be appropriate timing, as deals this good are unimaginable be it any other whites, or reds, from anywhere else in the world, seriously. These Grand and Premier Crus are for when only the best will do.

Onto our SUB-$50 Premier Cru feature! Wow, just WOW. Gimme a minute while I snag a case. Okay, I’m back… where were we? Oh, the Vaillons… Right across the Grand Crus amphitheater with the bucolic town of Chablis just down the steep slope.

To reiterate, Raveneau’s 2018 Vaillons costs 10 TIMES what we have this gem of a find at today… Losing my mind here. THIS IS NOT A JOKE, dear Ops, though it may seem like one.

Grab what you can, while you can.

94 Points, Editor’s Choice – Wine Enthusiast

“This wine’s intriguing nose combines rich candlewax with bright lemon oil. The palate is rounded and smooth, with buffered freshness on the midpalate. It is here that the sense of chalky depth comes in, conveying a stony, austere hinterland for which 2018’s generous fruit is mere window dressing. With its depth, the wine expresses the vintage beautifully. Drink by 2040.”

93-95 Points – Jasper Morris’ Inside Burgundy

“Mostly located in Vaillons itself, in the centre of the steep slope. Glowing pale green with a lean and hungry nose. The wine opens out really well on the palate, this one has nailed the vintage, with an extra gloss, delicious perfume on the classic bone structure. I love the crunch and energy of the aftertaste.”
