Lorenzo's Dream
This wonderful wine is very highly recommended. An exemplary Napa Cabernet Sauvignon from the best vintage on record in more than a decade (Robert Parker gave the vintage 96 Points), today’s wine really took our tasting panel by storm. Universally, we all agreed that this is one wine that our Operatives should not miss out on.
Bold, bright and intense on both the nose and on the palate, this wine hails from two of the most impressive vineyard sources in Sonoma County, one on the Mayacamas mountains, the other on Mt. Veeder. These vineyards offer Napa-like extraction with Sonoma-like elegance and style.
This wine is wonderfully balanced, with lovely, intense fruit that shines very brightly on the palate. Enjoy now, or lay a few bottles down for the next several years - if you can muster the patience!
Enjoy this very food-friendly wine with braised short ribs, lamb shank or roasted root vegetables with pearl onions and fresh rosemary.
Tasting Profile
Look: | Slightly opaque with a deep plum core. The wine has a weighty appearance, settling very fast after an good swirl. |
---|---|
Smell: | Very complex with notes of toasted oak, ripe black stonefruit and boysenberry. Wet stone, toffee, and cinnamon spice show through after brief swirling. Decant for 20 minutes, and the wine shows a lovely under-layer of intricate herbal notes of dried sage, thyme, and toasted tobacco. |
Taste: | Powerful flavors of dried figs and raisins, dried plum, black cherry, dark cocoa dust and ground espresso. |
Finish: | An ever-lasting lingering finish with round flavors of dried fruits, espresso bean, and soft chocolatey tannins that seem to go on forever. |
